Chief Executive, Angus Somerville, was delighted
by the success of the Regis Classic Tour, and
even more pleased that the charity has been chosen
as a beneficiary again for the Eleventh Tour in
2008:
“On behalf of everyone at Orchid, I can
only express my most sincere appreciation and
admiration for the support of this marvellous
event and thank everyone involved for raising
over £11,000 for the charity. As our Events
Manager, Lesley McGinty, who was lucky enough
to be invited along this year, remarked: ‘The
atmosphere and camaraderie amongst the participants,
coupled with the sort of wonderful classic cars
that make motoring an adventure as well as a thrill,
is unique.’
I am hugely impressed by the dedication and sheer
organisational skill of all those involved in
planning and accomplishing the tour. The very
fact that it has been running for so many years
and raised the nigh on £200,000 for the
most worthy charitable causes speaks for itself.
It just shows what people with a passion can achieve.
We at Orchid have a passion too: to save men’s
lives from testicular, prostate and penile cancers,
through pioneering research and promoting awareness.
These male–specific diseases are the highest
cancer risks for men at various stages of their
lives, and yet we still don’t know enough
about them. With the wonderful help of the Regis
Classic Tour, we can provide information to help
the men – and the women in their lives –
who suffer from these diseases, and support pioneering
research to find more reliable diagnosis and better
treatment, to overcome them.
Thank you again, and best wishes in planning
the 11th Regis Classic Tour.”
