In
the UK, 125 women per day are diagnosed with breast
cancer. That’s 45,000 per year. 12,000 patients
will die of breast cancer or of the spread of
the disease to other parts of the body. Did you
know that men can develop breast cancer as well?
About 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer
each year in the UK.
Against Breast Cancer is funding 3 important
research projects:
o A diet and lifestyle study amongst 3,000 patients
in the UK who have had Breast Cancer. It is aimed
at identifying clinically, factors that can increase
survival after the disease.
o We are researching a blood test to identify
the early signs of breast cancer secondary spread
and allow treatment to begin earlier
o Against Breast Cancer’s ultimate aim
it to develop a vaccine against breast cancer.
“Our vision is for a vaccine to become
available offering a life free of breast cancer.”
